Sustainability Overview
The Concord Free Public Library and the Concord Free Public Library Corporation formed a Sustainability Committee to help guide the sustainability study process using consultant, GreenerU. The overall goal of this committee was to develop a Sustainability Plan for the Main Library and Fowler Branch that aligns with the Town of Concord’s Climate Action and Resilience Plan backed by broad community support.
In May 2024, the Concord Free Public Library was designated a “Certified Sustainable Library” through the Sustainable Libraries Initiative’s award-winning Sustainable Library Certification Program (SLCP), the first library in the state of Massachusetts to obtain this certification.
More information on Sustainability efforts can be found here.
The Committee is currently engaged in updating the Sustainability Plan for 2026-2030.
