The Workshop

The Workshop is a public makerspace – a collaborative workspace with tools and equipment designed to help the community explore, learn, and make together.

Background

The Workshop was designed as an extension of the Concord Free Public Library Corporation’s mission to encourage lifelong learning and interactive community activities. The space integrated input from Concord community members, educators, and tech experts.

The Workshop opened in 2023 as an all-ages makerspace designed to encourage intergenerational learning, with classes and events catering to a wide range of ages and abilities. The Workshop has a wide array of tools, from knitting needles and embroidery hoops to 3-D printers and a laser cutter. Separate areas contain sewing machines and a recording/video studio. Collaborative spaces are available for classes and projects. 

The Workshop is supported by the Library Corporation and by generous donors. The Makerspace Coordinator and other staffing is provided by the Town of Concord. Programs are supported by the Friends of the Concord Free Public Library.
