The Munroe Society
The William Munroe Special Collections of the Concord Free Public Library grew out of Munroe’s vision for the Library when it was founded in 1873. These Collections are the most comprehensive archive related to Concord history, social and political life, government, culture, literature, people, and landscape, including related works of art.
The mission of the William Munroe Special Collections is to collect, preserve, interpret, and share these materials so that we can learn from our past and ensure these materials are there for generations to see, study, and enjoy.
The Munroe Society is dedicated to the preservation and advancement of the William Munroe Special Collections. As a member, you will have opportunities to:
- Enhance your understanding and appreciation of the Collections through members-only experiences, including exhibition previews, programs with scholars and curators, guided tours, and receptions.
- Support Collections conservation and preservation efforts as well as significant acquisitions to the Collections.
- Serve as an ambassador by promoting and sharing their passion for the Collections and help develop greater awareness of the Collections in the community.
